Wednesday April 9, 6:30 am ET

Proprietary Cooling Technique Enables Very High Power at Low Cost for Multiple Military and Industrial Applications

SYLMAR, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--QPC Lasers, Inc. (OTC BB: QPCI.OB) ?QPC,? a world leader in the design and manufacture of high brightness, high power semiconductor lasers for the consumer electronics, industrial, defense, and medical markets, today announced that it was granted its ninth patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. This is the third new patent announced in 2008; QPC now holds nine issued patents and seven patents pending.

Patent number US 349453, titled ?Direct Impingement Cooling of a Laser Diode Array,? protects a unique technique for thermal management of extremely high brightness arrays.

?QPC?s unique surface emitting array technology is an excellent match to this new technique for laser cooling,? said Dr. Jeffrey Ungar, President and CEO of QPC Lasers, Inc. ?By eliminating temperature rise inherent in conventional heat removal technology, this new technique provides greater power output in a smaller package, which is of critical significance for high performance military and industrial lasers,? Ungar said.
