Internationally Renowned Scientist Brings Award Winning New-Polymer Development Expertise and Strong Environmental Credentials
SANTA CLARITA, CA--(MARKET WIRE)--Apr 7, 2008 -- BioSolar(TM), Inc. (OTC BB: BSRC.OB), developer of a breakthrough technology to produce bio-based materials from renewable plant sources that reduce the cost of photovoltaic solar cells, today announced that Dr. Charles Carraher, Jr., has joined the company's Board of Advisors. In this capacity, he will provide leadership in the development of the company's current and next generation of polymers being readied for the marketplace.
"Dr. Carraher's research has led to the synthesis of over 70 families of polymers as well as new methods for their characterization and synthesis," noted Dr. David Lee, BioSolar's CEO. Dr. Carraher is Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida Atlantic University, Associate Director of the Florida Center for Environmental Studies. He previously served as Dean of the College of Science at FAU, Chair of the Science Division at University of South Dakota, and Chair of the Department of Chemistry at Wright State University. Dr. Carraher received his BS at Sterling College in 1963 and PhD in 1967 from University of Missouri, Kansas City.
In 2000, Dr. Carraher was awarded the title of Fellow by the American Chemical Society PMSE, being one of only 16 members recognized in the first class of those so recognized. In 2002, he was given the Distinguished Service Award by the ACS (PMSE) and the Distinguished Researcher Award by Allied Technologies.
Dr. Carraher has earned many awards and recognitions including being named a Fellow in the American Institute of Chemists, received the Outstanding Scientists and Engineering Award from the Engineers and Scientist Affiliate Societies Council in 1984, was named as the outstanding Chemist in southeast USA by the American Chemical Society in 1992 and given a Distinguished Service Award for his work in science education in 1994 and the Saltarilli Sigma Xi Award for research in 1992. He has served on the Governor's task-force committee for the Sustainability of South Florida, and headed up one of the national test committees.
